The plan for God's Word for the World was placed in my heart by the same Christ who saved me on July 20, 1960. I have pastored 4 churches in Ohio, Indiana and Texas. The Lord gave me a passion for getting Bibles to the world many years ago and Landmark in Cincinnati fueled the fire by allowing me to serve in a position where I could work with and assist western Missionaries as well as indigenous Missionaries in the unreached areas of the globe. My wife Nancy and I started God's Word For Our Cities as a ministry to give Bibles to children in 1999 and were granted 501 (c) (3) status in April of 2000. With the help of many friends, we have given children over 15,000 of these Bibles. Now we want to increase the scope of the ministry to include the whole world, and we believe God will bless in a marvelous way and millions of Bibles will be given to those who need them so much before Jesus comes back for His own.
To help accomplish the Mission, God's Word for the World does not intend to reinvent the wheel. We plan to rely upon God in two main areas and leave the results to Him.
Prayer
First, we believe that prayer is communicating with God and becoming what He wants us to be.
To this end we have asked 200 people to pray on a daily basis for this Ministry, for God to use the power of His Word to change lives, for God to touch the hearts of those in unreached areas, and for Christians that are being persecuted around the world. We will be sending a Prayer Calendar to these 200, informing them of our continuing work and asking them to intercede and “cry out to God” on behalf of those who need His Word, the Bible. God says in Isaiah 55:11 that His Word goes forth out of His mouth and will not return unto Him void but will accomplish that which He pleases.
Procedure
Secondly, we will be working with and through ministries that have in the past and are currently showing that the Lord's blessing is upon their efforts. God's Word for the World is partnering with successful ministries such as Turkish Gospel Mission (Peter Kaya), World Help (Vernon Brewer), and Hope Builders ( Lance Thollander and Yohan Gous). Later, as the Lord blesses this Ministry, we hope to work with Gospel For Asia (K.P. Yohannan), The Voice of the Martyrs, and possibly others. Each of these has started churches and supplied Pastors and Christians with Bibles in their native languages for years and has done so very effectively. Each also reports regularly that one of their greatest need is more Bibles. God's Word for the World will attempt to help fill this void by informing churches and Christians in America of the extreme need for Bibles and challenging them to give cheerfully so God's Word can be given to their brothers and sisters in Turkey, in China, in Africa, in Russia, in India, in the United States and around the unreached world.
