Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the main purpose of God’s Word for the World?
A: It is our desire to supply Bibles to everyone in the world in their own language. We have started by supplying a Bible for children in Cincinnati and now have expanded worldwide.
Q: How are you supplying Bibles worldwide?
A: We are partnering with Ministries in the United States that are already working with effective National ministries. We supply funds to these ministries, who in turn print or buy Bibles in their native countries.
Q: What Ministries are you working with?
A: At the present time, we are working with World Help, Hope Builders, Turkish Gospel Mission, General Borisov in Russia, the International Church in Cincinnati, Council of Christian Communions of Cincinnati, Lifeway For Youth, and several local churches. You can find information on these ministries by going to Links.
Q: Why are you doing it this way? Wouldn’t it be better to print the Bibles here and send them?
A: There are groups doing that and getting the Word to many people. We have found that it is more cost effective to send money and let them print or purchase the Bibles themselves. There are some other advantages, like giving jobs to the nationals, avoiding the “western religion” accusation and working with Christians who know and live the same culture.
Q: Can you trust the indigenous Christians to do the work properly?
A: Yes
Q: How do you hold them accountable?
A: The Ministries we partner with have guidelines that they have worked out over the years. They know those that they work with and require regular reports. The final results are in the Lord’s hands. Isaiah 55:11 assures us, if we get His Word out to the people, He will get the results He desires.
Q: Surely, by now, Bibles are in every country of the world, aren’t they?
A: How we wish this was true! First of all, today’s world is more accurately described by the terms nations, tribes, people groups, and languages than the word country (Revelation 7:9). There are 6,200 languages in the world and only 2,400 have any portion of the Bible printed in them! Add to this repressive governments that have restricted the Word of God and you begin to see the proper picture.
Q: The task is so enormous. Will the little I can do make a difference?
A: You can make a tremendous difference! This ministry is only a pipeline, a way that God, who owns everything including our finances anyway, can redistribute some of the wealth He has allowed us to be stewards of into the hands of the very needy. Their greatest need is salvation, found only in the Christ of the Bible. There are two things needed to get this great job done: prayers and funds. YOU can supply both!
